Our entire medical team has been caring for acutely ill patients as well as patients with Long-Covid and Post-Covid syndromes since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. According to recent findings, many patients suffer long-term sequelae after Covid-19 infection. Whether one had symptoms during the infection or not, does NOT play a significant role.
This especially affects non-vaccinated individuals, but also, in lesser amounts, non-boostered and even fully vaccinated individuals with boosters.
The study on which we rely, in addition to our own findings, was published on the 05.01.2022 by the University Hospital Eppendorf (UKE Hamburg).
It was found that the patients had medium-term impairments of heart, lung and kidney functions, as well as mental performance.
For people who have survived a Covid-19 infection, these results mean that they should pay close attention to even minor symptoms in the weeks that follow, such as temporary shortness of breath, a slight swelling of the lower leg, difficulty concentrating, and so on.
In order to prevent later long-term consequences, we recommend our Post-Covid-19-Check to all Covid-19 recovered patients, even with only mild symptoms or limitations.
The Post-Covid-19-Check includes the following basic examinations:
- detailed antibody test
- Blood test of heart & kidney values
- Pulmonary function test incl. oxygen saturation
- (resting) ECG
If our doctors consider further examinations to be necessary, these will be discussed with you accordingly.
The following possible examinations might also be useful:
- Cardiac ultrasound
- Exercise ECG
- Vein Doppler
- Extended blood values
If the examinations reveal indications of a disease, appropriate treatment can be initiated immediately to prevent or mitigate possible long-term consequences.
We are at your disposal for appointments and further inquiries.
